The global home event of World Environment Day in 2019 will be held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. The theme of World Environment Day will focus on air pollution prevention and control. The Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the Environmental Protection Agency have conducted in-depth consultations and coordination on the details of the Chinese slogan, promotional material design and production, and specific event arrangements for Environment Day. The Chinese slogan has been agreed to be "Blue Sky Defense, I am the Actor".

The theme of World Environment Day 2019 is air pollution prevention and control, which will urge governments, industries, communities, and individuals from all countries to jointly explore renewable energy and green technologies to improve air quality in cities and regions around the world. China will actively share its experience and practices in the "Blue Sky Defense War" with the international community, and jointly build a clean and beautiful world.

On March 15th, the head of the Chinese delegation to the United Nations Environment Conference, the Deputy Minister of Ecology and Environment, and the Acting Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme jointly announced that China will host World Environment Day 2019, focusing on the theme of "air pollution".

Approximately 7 million people worldwide lose their lives due to air pollution every year, of which approximately 4 million are in the Asia Pacific region. This year on World Environment Day, we urge governments, industries, communities, and individuals to explore renewable energy and green technologies to jointly improve air quality in cities and regions around the world.

The Chinese government will host the World Environment Day event in Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province. At the same time, other cities will also carry out celebration activities to jointly promote World Environment Day to a climax.
